Bears-Stop Over-Stimulating Your Thyroid
As you know, we at the Hauser Diet strongly recommend fresh, organic, whole foods in their most natural forms, avoiding foods with chemicals, dyes, fillers, preservatives, and other things that can put your body under stress. Just as your car runs best on good quality gasoline, feeding your body proper fuel is key to ensuring that it runs properly.

In addition to eating organic, natural, fresh foods, and eating according to your Bear Diet Type, we have found that many people with thyroid problems are consuming a large amount of thyroid-stimulating foods, and lower amounts of foods that stimulate the adrenals and gonads. Hence, you feel tired and worn out and never feel quite right.

Eating too many dairy products, fried foods, sugar and sugar-containing foods, soft drinks, coffee, pasta, and white bread products can contribute to the weight gain, low energy levels, stress, and fatigue associated with the over-stimulated thyroid.

Over-stimulating the thyroid gland with these foods, along with stress, can lead your thyroid to a state of exhaustion and imbalance.

Eating Right As A Bear
Our Bear Diet is usually recommended for people who are normal oxidizers or for people who have balanced blood pH. Therefore, the Bear Diet is all about balance – balancing food to keep everything within a normal range.

While most people understand the Bear Diet concepts, there are a few common mistakes that pop up.

Eating too many carbohydrates
The American diet is loaded with carbohydrates. A common mistake that we see from our patients is that they get pulled into the American diet with breads, crackers, pastas, fruit, etc.

Eating too much fat and protein
While most people tend to eat too many carbs, there are some people who swing too far the other way with protein and fat. They forget the balance and have meat-heavy meals. As a result some of our patients may reach a plateau with their weight loss, energy, and digestion goals. With our help, we allow them to see the balance needed.

Letting the portions get out of control
While the other Hauser Diets focus in on two or so food groups, the Bear diet is a balance of many food groups. The number of food groups often leads to the mentality that anything is allowed. As a result, plates are loaded up with a number of different food items and Bears end up eating too much. Again, the results often lead to a plateau with weight loss, energy, and digestion goals. Bears need to eat slowly and stop eating when they just start to feel full.

Ignoring organic food
Fresh, organic food is essential to feeling your best. Unfortunately some of our patients tend to ignore the fact that their bodies need fresh food. It is not possible to feel your best when you are living off of convenience food. It may take a little longer to prepare your own meals, but the benefits are astronomical. We cannot stress enough the need to feed your body wholesome food.

Too much fruit, not enough vegetables
Most of our patients who come in to see us love fruit, we believe that fruits and vegetables should be in different food categories. Fruit has a very different effect on blood sugar and blood pH than vegetables do. Vegetables tend to keep the balance better than fruit, and they have the same amount of fiber and nutrients. So when preparing meals, always think about ways to increase your vegetable intake to keep your nutrient intake high and your blood sugar and pH balanced. A good rule of thumb is to have 2 servings of vegetables for every one serving of fruit.
