Cholesterol and the Lion Diet Type?
Do you have high cholesterol already?
If so, you may have had the same reaction that some other patients had when
Hauser Diet Typing testing showed they needed to follow the Hauser Lion Diet Type.

The Lion Diet Type, as you recall, is a diet high in protein and fat, low in carbohydrates. Therefore, some of our cardiac patients’ reaction to the Lion Diet Type prescription is to tell us that they are heart patients and that this diet cannot possibly be the right diet for them! They are not supposed to eat eggs or red meat because of their cholesterol levels.

But is this diet information true or false?
False! The actual percentage of total blood cholesterol that comes from food is very small. So, eating cholesterol does not equal having high cholesterol in the blood. In fact, we see most Lion Diet Types’ cholesterol levels return to normal after starting this type of high protein approach.

For those of you who have had Diet Typing testing done, your blood work showed that the high protein/low carbohydrate Diet Type is the best diet for you. Whatever diet you had been eating before is obviously not working, or your cholesterol levels would have declined. You have scientific evidence that your body does not do well with carbohydrates. So, by eating the foods that work best for your Diet Type (protein and fat), your body should benefit! Our recommendation is that you try it for one month and then get your cholesterol tested again! We’ve seen lipid profiles normalize on this diet time and time again! Remember, this is the diet that is needed by your body as evidenced by your blood tests!

If you’re still worried about your cholesterol, that doesn’t mean you cannot follow the Lion Diet. Eat leaner cuts of protein if it makes you feel more comfortable, and focus on good healthy fats. The Lion Diet does not require eggs and beef to be part of your daily eating plan, so do what puts you at ease…just stay a Lion – which means eat primarily meat, good fats, and a small amount of vegetables! Get rid of the soda pop, rice cakes, breads, cereals, pastas, rice, potatoes, and of course, desserts – all kinds of desserts – including fat-free or sugar-free items!
